Letter to Parents about Chamber Music Program:
Dear CYSO Parents,
Chamber music is a great way for your child to share the skills they've been honing in the practice room all these years. It encourages teamwork, fosters a sense of responsibility, and offers that all too elusive feeling of reward for a job well done. This year three string quartets will be chosen for the program, based on audition preparation and consistency of level in each group. These groups will have the opportunity to perform in many settings in our community, including a recital dedicated to the chamber program.
The chamber music program for '09-'10 will be getting started in October. The audition will be September 27th at 2pm. Contact me for the location at cbeeson69@gmail.com. Please confirm your audition by emailing me your application. There is a $25 audition fee due at the audition (we accept cash/check only). Students should be prepared to play the Schubert excerpt for the audition.
Once selected and assigned to groups, students will receive music so that they can adequately prepare for the first coaching session. Students are encouraged to get together for rehearsals on their own time during the course of the year.
I look forward to a great year of music making!
Sincerely,
Catherine Beeson
Chamber Music Program Coach
Additional Chamber Program Information:
This year the chamber music program is being limited to three string quartets. Students will be selected based on their audition preparation and consistency of level within each group. Students should be prepared to play the Schubert excerpt with other musicians as part of their audition.
Students will learn and perform chamber works for string quartet in a variety of locations and under a variety of circumstances, ranging from traditional concert programs to interactive community concerts. Rehearsals will be held on an 'as needed' basis. Every effort will be made to accommodate the students' schedules.
I look forward to hearing the auditions, and working with the groups this year! Chamber music is a particularly fun and exciting way to use our instrumental skills. I look forward to hearing the auditions and working with the groups this year, and am thrilled to develop a bigger and better program each year!
